Caregiver Balance helps you maintain a healthy balance in your everyday life

This online resource is offered as part of the Care-coach study based at the University of East Anglia. It is designed for anyone who has caring responsibilities for a person living with dementia. It provides online learning combined with coaching support via email and/ or phone. The coach provides support throughout the course. The great thing about the modules is that you can always apply them to your own situation. That’s why the course is so effective. Every module gives you specific actions you can take. I’ve found that the course has given me structure. Also, you can do the modules at any time that suits you.

Select the modules you want to do

Together with your coach, you’ll select the right modules for you. Each module focuses on a different theme. Choose the modules that you need most or that you would like to know more about.

Introduction video

Each module begins with an introduction video featuring people in a similar situation as you talking about what they’ve experienced and offering useful tips for other caregivers.

Background

After watching the video, you can read more information and tips about a module’s theme.

Tailored to your personal situation

Subsequently, you are invited to do an assignment in which you describe your situation.

Achieving your goals, step by step

Each module concludes with a step-by-step plan that shows you, one step at a time, how to make small adjustments so that life with your partner remains as fulfilling as possible.

You’re not in this alone

Your personal coach will help you as you work through the course and give you feedback on the assignments you do.

“No one chooses to be a full-time caregiver. It just happens to you and it raises so many questions. This course teaches you to take a different approach to problems, and the caregivers in the videos understand what you’re going through. I’m very grateful for their practical tips

Lisa (74 years)
